Resecently we found out that Anna Yudkivska - an outstanding woman, highly qualified professional lawyer and human right defender became one of three candidates for the position of Judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine . We want to congratulate Anna on this victory and to wish her amazing success during the elections. Anna Yudkivska is one of the very few lawyers which came into advocacy from the human rights movement. Anna was always interested in cases where interests of clients were connected to social problems. She worked with refugees, victims of tortures and with people who were deprived of property in an illegitimate way. We hope that Anna Yudkivska will receive support of members of the Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe this autumn, and Ukraine , as a result, will get the independent judge, whose legal views will be a pride of Ukraine.
Dmitry Groisman,

I know Anna from 2003, when she first participated in our Training for Lawyers on Implementation of Standards of the European Convention. Quite soon she became our permanent trainer. She also worked effectively as an advocate in our Centre of legal redress for victims of tortures. Anna gained great experience while working as a defence lawyer in Ukraine and enriched it working as a lawyer of the Registry of the European Court . I strongly believe that such a unique experience combined with her scientific aspiration, give her opportunity to occupy up this post.

I am thrilled to hear of Anna Yudkivska's nomination as Judge on the European Court of Human Rights. Her years of work of the Shoah Foundation were themselves a contribution to European Human Rights, documenting as she did the most systematic violation of human rights in European history. All of her former colleagues and friends at the Foundation are overjoyed to know that the work she begun with us will continue in such an important and significant venue.
